Just a sampling of one of my favourite skaters in collaboration with my favourite brand. [Skateboarding]

Just stumbled over this little gem during my travels through the numerous labyrinths of the vast internet and i thought it should be shared. Leo Romero once again shines as a skater, and big ups to rvca for putting together this little video. Plus this will get all of you skaters out there pumped to see leos part in the upcoming EMERICA video, Stay Gold. Enjoy.

Josh Harmony – Providence [Music Preview]

Skateboarder Josh Harmony has always been portrayed a subtle songwriter, but I’ve never actually gotten the chance to hear anything before this preview that posted today on Facebook.  If this trailer is any indication, I can’t wait to hear more from Taller Than Trees.

Skateboarding and music . . . has there ever been a better pairing?

[Skateboarding] Omar Salazar signature shoe from Nike

Omar Salazar’s first signature shoe from Nike SB has dropped and it’s a doozy.  This clean little space boot has all of the amenities of current technology, as well as some from 2001:  A Space Odyssey . . . wait, now my brain just hurts.

The Salazar, for all intents and purposes, looks beefy enough to withstand just about anything you can throw at it.  An extra large stash pocket (think old Muska shoe stash pockets) enable you to conceal whatever prized goods you may be toting, and the lightweight cupsole melds with Nike’s foam and phylon footbeds for a bouncy, comfortable step.   The shoe may not look as appealing on the shelf, but ultimately, once you get it on, it’s comfortable and looks pretty aces under some jeans.

The word on the street is that Omar has been absolutely annihilating stuff in his new kicks, and Nike recently released a mini-site devoted entirely to the space-age footwear.  For those of you who are dying to try a pair, SkateDaily will be giving away 5 free pairs in their latest contest.  Follow the link for more details:  [SkateDaily]

Alien Workshop x Andy Warhol Decks – “Art is what you can get away with”

Alien Workshop has always pushed the envelope with skateboard graphics and has produced great decks with collaborations with Dinosaur Jr. and Rogue Status (Dyrdek . . . obviously).  The latest collection seems suitable for the sect and is, honestly, a bit impressive that they got the licensing to do it.

The Andy Warhol Foundations for visual arts, inc. has licensed these timeless images to Alien Workshop for use on this, one-time only collaboration.  Each of the company’s 10 riders gets a classic Warhol piece on the bottom, in high gloss, with their face on the topsheet in matte finish.

Five decks from Warhol’s Death & Destruction series fit well with riders Heath Kirchart, Omar Salazar, Jason Dill, Grant Taylor and Arto Saari; and five decks from Warhol’s iconic Pop series glamorize Omar Salazar, Rob Dyrdek, Mikey Taylor, Dylan Reider, and internet pretty-boy, Steve Berra.

The decks will come with limited-edition packaging and POP for the first slew of shops to get their orders in.  They drop in time for summer, with a Spring 2010 release date.  [Alien Workshop]

Atiba Jefferson launches new photo site

TrendRobot is a crew of avid, AMATEUR photographers.  We’re also a team of avid, AMATEUR skateboarders (if even that).  Atiba Jefferson has reached legend status in all of the above.

Doing photo work for the NBA, Transworld Skate, The Skateboard Mag and many other, extremely credible outlets, Atiba Jefferson has reached a level that photogs can only dream of attaining.  Capturing moments from Koston, Reynolds, Carroll, and even Kobe and Shaq, not many people know that Atiba had humble beginnings nestled in the cove of Colorado Springs, CO.  He even worked at BC Surf & Sport in the Springs area.

Atiba has launched his own photo/portfolio site with images from his illustrious career.  Please, just don’t ask him to do your wedding . . .[Atibaphoto]

Jake Johnson/Animal Collective – Mindfield/My Girls

As in the past, the beautiful chemistry between skateboard videos and their soundtracks gave me a new obsession in my listening habits.  My new vice was named Animal Collective.  An addiction I wouldn’t soon rehab from developed and a whole new world of music unfolded and now I see how an album of complete ambient noise can turn into one of the most important of the decade.
